Another review for the Adams admin
An update from our Winnie Greco reporting, and rice pudding! #64
This week THE CITY reported again on Winnie Greco, a longtime Adams team member who our reporting found was trading her powerful position for favors and money.
This time it’s the Department of Investigation looking into Greco and what the reporting found out — after City Hall, as city agencies are supposed to do, referred it all to DOI, according to a spokesperson.
If you haven’t read it yet I’d recommend taking your time with our original story, a true team effort that I admittedly contributed the least amount to.
These types of stories are hard work. You speak to a lot of people who offer just tiny bits of information. You report on things that don’t end up making it into the story — but you still did the work to get it! Not every person and piece of information leads you to the next person and piece of information; sometimes they are dead ends. Our stories on Winnie took a very long time and lots of reporting and meetings and discussions.
And good reporting takes money (you should have seen this coming.) We are still in our end-of-year pledge drive at THE CITY and we’re looking to start 2024 off with a great boost of cash and pledges so we can continue doing the reporting that matters to New York City. If you like what we’re doing, why not give? You can donate HERE!
🦝 I also published a guide this week on how to co-exist with our city’s wild animals — which has lots of great information and cool photos.
